Digital Workshop: Working with Trans and Non-Binary Artists, June 27th 2026 (Beginner Diploma)
from $90.00

Working with Trans and Non-Binary Artists
Beginner Diploma
Saturday, June 27th, 2026
6:00 pm-9:00 pm Eastern Time (New York)

Working with Trans and Non-Binary Artists will outline TIE’s best practices for staging effective and affirming trans and non-binary intimacy. Our theatre, film, and educational institutions are built upon colonial sex/gender systems, resulting in stories that often misrepresent life outside the binary while marginalizing trans storytellers themselves. As arts professionals, we are called into a relational and reparative approach to resist bias against transgender and non-binary people and forge new methods for consent-based collaboration. This course offers interactive, reflective opportunities to engage with queer/trans perspectives on creating spaces where gender-expansive artists can thrive.

Digital Workshop: Verticals and Intimacy, July 13th, 2026 (Advanced Plus Diploma)
from $90.00

Verticals & Intimacy
Advanced Plus Diploma Option
Prerequisite Required (Best Practices)
Monday, July 13th, 2026
3:00 pm - 6:00 pm Eastern Time (New York)

This TIE workshop examines intimacy coordination for vertical-format, short-form filmed content, a rapidly expanding medium defined by mobile viewing, scroll-based consumption, and compressed episodic storytelling. As vertical framing reshapes how audiences perceive proximity, touch, gaze, and power, intimacy professionals and creators must adapt consent-based practices to meet the aesthetic, logistical, and ethical demands of this format.

Verticals are typically serialized romances, broken into 1–2-minute episodes and viewed in isolation on mobile devices. Their data-driven business models and accelerated production schedules significantly impact how intimacy professionals apply established consent practices. With traditional Hollywood studios and SAG-AFTRA now entering the vertical space, there is an urgent need for repeatable, ethical processes that support performer agency while aligning with the pacing and visual language of vertical content.

Through discussion, case studies, and applied tools, this workshop focuses on coordinating intimacy across standing, seated, and transitional vertical moments, moments in which bodies are often partially framed, constantly moving, and rarely contextualized within a broader narrative arc. Participants will explore strategies for communication, boundary management, and consent when performers are viewed up close, in fragments, and under heightened audience intimacy.

Designed for intimacy coordinators, filmmakers, content creators, actors, and educators, this TIE workshop offers practical approaches to building sustainable, consent-forward workflows in vertical film environments that support both creative goals and performers’ well-being.

Two-Hour Tips: Fat Performers and Intimacy

Thursday, August 6th

TIE presents Fat Performers and Intimacy. Fat performers move through a world that not only still frequently finds it difficult to imagine fat people in romance narratives, but which often literally isn't built for them. A little foresight on the part of designers and choreographers can allow fat performers to spend more time focusing on their craft and less time educating and advocating for what they need for their bodies to find the same access to a space and process as their straight-sized counterparts. Participants learn tools and considerations for supporting fat performers in this two-hour workshop.
Note: "fat" is used both in this description and in the workshop as a value-neutral adjective in alignment with the fat acceptance movement.

TIE offers practical tools and consent-forward strategies for artists, educators, production teams, intimacy coordinators/choreographers/directors, and stunt coordinators working with young performers in film and theatre. Grounded in TIE’s principles, the session explores how to create developmentally appropriate and empowering environments for children navigating performance spaces that may include vulnerability, sensitive storytelling, or heightened emotional content.

Participants will engage with clear, actionable techniques for communication, boundary-setting, and collaboration with minors, as well as best practices for working alongside guardians, directors, and crew. The session also includes a discussion of SAG-AFTRA and Actors’ Equity Association (AEA) guidelines for working with minors, helping participants understand industry standards alongside ethical practice. Topics include age-appropriate language, establishing trust without overstepping, navigating power dynamics, and adapting consent-informed processes for youth-centered work.

Through discussion, this workshop equips participants with concise, immediately applicable “tips” to support ethical, effective, and compassionate work with young performers—whether on set, in rehearsal, or in the classroom.
