TIE Three-Day In-Person Intensive | Italy 2027

August 1–3, 2027 | Accademia dell’Arte | Arezzo, Italy

Immerse Yourself in TIE's Practices in the Heart of Tuscany

Join Theatrical Intimacy Education (TIE) for an extraordinary three-day training experience in beautiful Arezzo, Italy, immediately preceding the 2027 TIE International Symposium.

Hosted at the renowned Accademia dell’Arte, the TIE Three-Day Intensive combines our signature Workshop Weekend and In-Person Lab into one comprehensive, immersive professional development experience.

Designed for theatre and film professionals, educators, directors, performers, intimacy professionals, and creative leaders, this intensive offers an opportunity to explore TIE's consent-based methodologies through practical application, artistic exploration, and collaborative learning.

Whether you are new to TIE or looking to deepen your practice, this training strengthens your skills, expands your understanding, and builds confidence in leading creative spaces with clarity, intention, and care.

A Deep Dive into TIE's Practices and Methodologies

Go beyond learning individual tools and discover how TIE's practices work together to support the entire creative process.

This immersive intensive takes participants on a deep dive into TIE's methodologies, exploring the principles, philosophies, and practical applications that inform our approach to consent-based artistic collaboration.

Through interactive workshops, experiential exercises, guided discussions, and hands-on application, participants will explore:

  • Consent-Based Practices: Deepen your understanding of consent, communication, and collaborative decision-making in creative environments.

  • Boundary-Setting Tools: Explore practical strategies for establishing, communicating, and respecting personal and professional boundaries.

  • Creating Spaces of Acceptable Risk: Learn approaches that support artistic exploration while recognizing individual autonomy and the complexities of creative work.

  • Intimacy Coordination and Choreography: Examine the tools, techniques, and collaborative processes used to stage and film intimate storytelling.

  • Facilitation and Leadership: Build confidence in navigating challenging conversations, responding to unexpected situations, and supporting productive collaboration.

  • Practical Application: Apply TIE's methodologies through guided exercises, exploration, and feedback from experienced faculty.

The intensive emphasizes not only what these tools are, but why, when, and how to use them effectively.

Our goal is for every participant to leave with a stronger understanding of TIE's practices and greater confidence in leading their own classrooms, rehearsals, productions, and creative communities.

Understanding the Work of Intimacy Coordinators and Intimacy Choreographers

An essential component of the Three-Day Intensive is an in-depth exploration of the distinct roles, responsibilities, and professional scope of practice of Intimacy Coordinators and Intimacy Choreographers.

Participants will examine the ethical considerations, professional expectations, and collaborative relationships involved in this work, gaining insight into how to support performers, directors, production teams, and the creative process.

This Intensive provides foundational learning, offering opportunities to apply these practices through guided exercises, collaborative exploration, and feedback from TIE faculty.

Together, these experiences provide a comprehensive understanding of TIE's approach and its applications across theatre, film, education, and other performance environments.

TIE's Upcoming Certification Requirements

As part of TIE's upcoming certification program, candidates must complete a Three-Day In-Person Intensive as part of their certification pathway.

This requirement reflects TIE's commitment to meaningful, experiential learning. We believe understanding consent-based methodologies requires more than theory; it requires opportunities to practice, collaborate, reflect, and apply these skills in real time.

The Italy Three-Day Intensive fulfills this in-person training requirement for TIE's upcoming certification program.

Have You Already Completed a TIE Workshop Weekend and In-Person Lab?

Great news! Your previous training counts!

Participants who have already completed both a TIE Workshop Weekend and an In-Person Lab will receive full credit toward the Three-Day Intensive requirement within TIE's upcoming certification program.

You don't need to repeat this training to meet the requirement. TIE recognizes and honors the time, dedication, and professional development you have already invested in your education.

What if you've completed only one of these trainings?

If you have previously attended either a Workshop Weekend or an In-Person Lab, but not both, please contact TIE. We would be happy to schedule an individual consultation to review your completed training and help determine the best pathway to meet the remaining requirements.

We are committed to supporting each participant's unique educational journey while maintaining the integrity of our certification standards.

Curriculum Overlap

This workshop covers much of the same material covered in TIE’s Best Practices and Theatrical Studio Techniques Digital Workshops (and so much more!). Participants who have attended a Workshop Weekend after completing both digital workshops have shared that they learned an enormous amount from the hands-on learning, activities, Q&A sessions, and real-time feedback!

There is no pre-requisite for a TIE Workshop Weekend and this workshop satisfies the Best Practices/Workshop Weekend pre-requisite requirement for other TIE workshops.

Transfers/ Exchanges for Credit

If TIE postpones or cancels the workshop, all participants will receive their full registration cost paid to TIE as credit towards future workshops or registration credit for a future Workshop Weekend.

In all other circumstances, TIE does not offer refunds for workshops. If you are unable to attend, you may request an exchange for credit or a transfer to another workshop 14-days prior to the workshop weekend for a small administrative fee. We are unable to honor requests made within 14 days of in-person workshops. Click here to begin the transfer or exchange process.
