Join TIE for a Week in Italy:
2027 Intensive & International Symposium
July 31–August 7, 2027 | Accademia dell’Arte, Italy
Join Theatrical Intimacy Education (TIE) for hands-on learning, artistic exploration, and community in Italy.
Attend the Three-Day In-Person Intensive, the International Symposium, or both to deepen your practice and connect with an international community committed to consent-based practices in the performing arts.
TIE Three-Day In-Person Intensive | August 1–3
Arrival July 31 • Programming August 1–3 • Departure August 4 for Intensive-only participants
Explore TIE's foundational work through three days of interactive training with TIE faculty. Develop practical consent and boundary-setting tools through experiential activities, discussion, and creative collaboration. This Intensive fulfills the in-person training requirement for TIE Certification.
TIE International Symposium | August 3–7
Arrival August 3 • Programming August 4–6 • Departure August 7
Connect with artists, educators, intimacy professionals, and scholars for three days of professional development and creative exchange. The first two programming days feature in-person TIE courses, including specialized offerings typically available exclusively online. A keynote presentation will offer fresh perspectives on consent-based performance, and the final day will feature participant-led presentations exploring research, teaching, artistic practice, and emerging methodologies.
Participants interested in presenting will receive a presentation submission link after registering.
Symposium tuition includes all Symposium programming, four nights of shared accommodations at the Accademia dell’Arte villa, meals, a Welcome Dinner, a Farewell Dinner, a gelato-making class, access to on-site medical care, and a TIE swag bag.
Make It a Full Week: Attend Both
Combine the Intensive’s foundational training with the Symposium’s specialized courses, research, and creative exchange. Participants attending both events should arrive July 31 and depart August 7, transitioning directly from the Intensive into the Symposium for a full week of learning and connection.

Questions, Answers, & A Little More
Will I earn credits toward a TIE Diploma and Certification?
Yes! Symposium sessions will count toward various TIE Diploma levels, helping participants progress along their certification journey. Each participant will receive a TIE Symposium Passport to document completed sessions and track credits toward applicable Diploma and Certification requirements.
Should I take TIE Best Practices before attending the Symposium?
While TIE's Best Practices training isn't required to attend the Symposium, we strongly recommend it! This foundational training will help you engage more confidently and meaningfully with the concepts, discussions, and practical exercises throughout the event.
If you haven't taken Best Practices yet, TIE will offer several opportunities to complete the training before the Symposium.
You can also register for the TIE Three-Day In-Person Intensive (August 1–3, 2027) immediately before the Symposium. This intensive provides an in-person foundation in Best Practices and is a great way to prepare for the Symposium while extending your learning experience in Italy!
