Cognitive Equity in Design: Lighting is a lecture that touches on findings that question the building blocks of lighting design ‘norms’ as an industry. It pulls from unexpected sources—such as praised and lauded fashion photography—in an attempt to uncover what exactly “proper” lighting is. It borrows ideas from the world of cinema as a proposed model for rethinking theatrical design. Finally, by sharing personal experience in lighting Black Theatre–struggles, successes, discoveries, and ideas on how representation may be improved in the design process. This lecture aims to explore, demystify, and formalize a dialogue on this timely yet underexplored topic.

There is no waitlist for Digital Workshops. Classes are first-come, first-serve, and class sizes are limited to maintain educational quality.

The Best Practices Digital Workshop or a comprehensive TIE workshop (i.e. Workshop Weekend) is a pre-requisite for all other Theatrical Intimacy Education Digital Workshops. This is to ensure that all participants are conversant in TIE's specific approach and vocabulary to ensure educational quality for all participants.
